|Location:||Seattle, WA, United States|
|About artist:||I have been creating an unusual art series since the 1970's. Seattle has been my beloved home most of my life. Graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Washington in 1954, but art is a very special part of my life.|
|About art:||Back in the 1970's I began creating a series of life-size two-dimensional figures and paintings that are closely relative to the figures, which are "viewing" or simply posing adjacent to the paintings. Each set tells a story, rather like a frozen scene in a play. The intention of my work is to provide viewers of all ages and from all walks of life the opportunity to experience, appreciate, and enjoy the many surprise relationships that can be discerned in this world. I expecially take delight in delving into various art styles and famous artists of the past. Many of the sets are on the wry humor side.|
The figures have mostly been created in a realistic style. I do not feel a style such as impressionistic, while perhaps more "artistic" in the eyes of some, would have created the for-real illusion I prefer. On both the figures and paintings I have generously and tediously used an impasto technique wherever suitable. I believe this not only creates more interest, but adds a third-dimensional feel to the figures.
I like to think that there is a unique place for my work in the vast field of world art, and that viewers and owners will be rewarded with unusual entertainment and intrigue.
By the way, my apologies for my photography of my artworks. There are distortions of wall bases, lack of sharpness sometimes, and so on. However, the works have been difficult to photograph, and many photos were taken before the digital age. At any rate you can see what my work is all about.
