| Location: | Los Angeles, California, United States | | About artist: | GL Stassi was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. She has been creating art in many different media her entire life. While at the University of California, Los Angeles studying Meso-American archeology and Spanish, she traveled frequently to Central America to experience their rich culture and beautiful people. It was there that she rediscovered and revived her love of drawing in pastel and conte crayon and painting in bold passionate colors with bodacious, luscious shapes.
“It is more than just looking at a woman or savoring a piece of fruit at the open air market – I want you to taste what I taste and feel what I feel and smell the sensuality – it is much, much more than just an image – it is the sensation that I want to share.”
Her creations are greatly influenced by whatever music is being played, or whatever story is being told, that happens to move her at the moment. With each piece, she tries to capture that unique moment, thought, or feeling as well as paying homage to the great colors of the Latin American culture.
