| | About artist: | I was a furniture designer/maker by trade and around two years ago became a full time professional artist. I have taught art courses for the last 14 years and am currently running various painting experiences/work-shops for Warner Leisure at their Norton Grange resort at Yarmouth on the glorious Isle of Wight. I am married and have two grown up children. By sheer chance a couple of years ago someone said to me, 'I have a diary from the Fitzwilliam gallery in Cambridge and in it there are a couple of colour plates of watercolours by an artist called Joseph Murray Ince, was he an ancestor of yours?
I didn't know at the time whether he was, but it turns out he was my Great Great Uncle and there are works of his in galleries all over the world, including The Victoria and Albert and The Tate. It also turns out that my Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandfather was Thomas Ince of 'Ince and Mayhew' Furniture fame. So I guess there could be some truth about these things being hereditary, however I maintain that anybody can be taught you just have to want to learn.I now run art tuition sessions from my home studio in Totland for very small groups (3) or on a one to one basis. Please e-mail me for more details! | | About art: | I love working in all mediums, if I had to put them in order of preference I would probably have to say my favourites are Oil and Soft pastels.In truth my favourite is the medium that I am working on at the time. As for subject matter, everything is a challenge, I have a special love of landscape, the sea, and nature, having said that, I love to paint all subject matter,and treat all subject matter with the passion it deserves and to try and convey to the viewer what inspired me to paint that imagery. I love to paint! I take on commissions and produce some of my best work as commissions. In my gallery the pastel portraits of dogs, the three historical ship paintings and the oil 'The Turf Walk' were all commissioned works. I am running four painting holidays on the beautiful Greek Island of Samos in 2012... June 1st to 8th, and 8th to 15th and in October 5th to 12th and 12th to 19th.
