Millet, Cindy: Crucifixion in Auschwitz

Artist:Millet, Cindy   (Send an e-mail to Cindy Millet)
Description:"Crucifixion in Auschwitz" is a pencil drawing inspired from Primo Levy's famous book and an artistic interpretation of the inexpressible horror in a personal expressionist, cubist and symbolist style.
In the foreground is the face of the bruised Man, tormented by pain and despair, crucified on the Auschwitz barbed wires like Jesus on the Cross ; in the background is the monstruous face of Medusa shaped by the enourmous cloud of human ashes coming from "the death chimneys". This controversial work of art is a personal vision of the Shoah but also a real philosophical and spiritual thought about the contemporary Man in our present-day society : how can we stay a Human being facing the monstruosity of others, how can we keep Faith and Hope facing the most unbearable suffering ?...
